Where is Nahan?


Before you start planning your trip, it always helps to know a little about the place before you get there. Nahan is a small hill station in the Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh. It is nearly 250 kilometers from Delhi and takes about five hours to get there. You can also book a train to Chandigarh or Dehradun and take a bus or a taxi from there. Nahan is frequented by tourists all round the year. 


Leave early morning to beat the traffic


Leave from Delhi in the morning at 7 so that you can reach Nahan by 12pm. You must check with your Sirmour hotel about their check-in policy. Visit Suketi Fossil Park


Suketi Fossil Park is located 21 kilometers from Nahan and takes about an hour to get there. It is a must visit if you have children in your group. It can be a great learning experience for them as this park is built on the actual site where fossils were found. It also has life size models of Hexaprotodon-Sivalensis, Parmachaerdus and many more.

 

 

See the majestic Jaitak Fort at Jaitak hill


This place has historical importance and a must visit Sirmour attraction. These hills are at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level and the fort built atop the hill, Jaitak Fort, was built in 1810 by Gurkha leader Ranjor Singh.


There are great treks near Nahan


If you are someone who likes walking amongst the nature and exploring the local fauna, then Nahan has some amazing treks that you can take. The trek from Nahan to Renukaji is an easy one but quite mesmerizing. There are great treks in Churdhar peak that offer amazing views from the top.

This is the place to visit if you want to buy local Himachal handicrafts, pickles etc. You can also get mouth watering food in the market. Though, food in Sirmour is generally good.
